Having been a member for some 15 months I must say what an absolute plesaure it is to visit the Spa. The four 'frontline receptionists' Sarah, Pauline, Nichola & Jackie are so lovely, always greeting you with a cheery smile and some kind words to brighten the day, whether it;s 1st thing in the morning or towards the end of the day.
The real reason for this e-mail is to compliment Miss Rachel Storey, one of the massage therapists. I have now had two treatments with this lady, who has provided exceptional massage treatments, which, somehow, relieves stress & tension without any pain whatsover.Rachelis a real credit to The Spa. Her trainer, Verna, must be complimented on her training techniques, but Rachel herself is unbelievably good, with a polite, kind & caring attitude, where nothing is too much trouble. I am already eagerly anticipatiing the 'Spa Day' treatment on 29th July.
Thankyou to each & everyone of you for all your kind help & attention & for making each visit such a pleasure.
With kind regards & Best wishes.
Steve.
Last Friday (29/07) I had the pleasure of experiencing your 'Summer Madness' offer. I have to say I am now running out of superlatives regarding the treatments & service at the Spa. Firstly grateful thanks to Nichola & Sarah for all their help & assistance with the booking.
Next is Jackie who kindly took the time & trouble to remove my St Christopher chain & pendant. The fact that I felt comfortable enough to request this speaks volumnes of the friendliness of the Spa staff.
Pride of place though, is reserved for Rachel for an incredible 90 minutes worth of treatments. Unbelievably good & exceptional doesn't even come close & I was still totally relaxed on Sunday evening!! I have already booked for August, although sadly not quick enough for the 'four treatments for the price of three' offer, unless there is anything you can do, of course!!
The lunch was lovely & provided a fitting end to a most wonderful morning.
Finally, a sincere apology to Pauline for me having the audacity to eat all the the delicious chocolate cake!!
I look forward to repeating this experience again on Wednesday 24th August.
Once again, many thanks to you all.
With kind regards & best wishes.
Steve.
In June of 2007, I sustained a serious spinal injury, which left me paralysed from the chest down. After ten weeks of hyperbaric treatment and physiotherapy I was able to walk with aid of two walking sticks, all be it, not very well. I was then referred by the NHS to the Portland Spa, to continue my re-hab.
Mike Young and his staff worked out a programme for me to aid my recovery. This involved lots of balancing exercises and work on my back, legs and core to assist me in standing and walking. After six weeks of this treatment I was able to walk without sticks for most of the time.
The help and guidance they gave me, I feel provided invaluable assistance in the aid of my recovery, and for that I will always be grateful.
I have been a member of The Ocean Spa since it first opened. Prior to this I was a regular visitor to a local chiropractitioner with a recurring back problem. Jan, my partner, suggested that I take a more positive approach and try the new gym about to open. Since joining I can honestly say I haven’t looked back. I followed the regime recommended and, although my back problems will never disappear, I very rarely suffer for more than a few days at a time. When I do have a problem I discuss it with either Mike or Darren who suggest exercises that will see me through this period.
Jan joined the gym soon after me and thoroughly enjoys both the gym and the pool. The “Stay Active” classes are a must for her – as well as pushing herself it has also proved a good social gathering. Jan has been diagnosed with osteoporosis so this weight bearing type of exercise is beneficial to her.
The Ocean Spa is an important part of our routine and at 72 and 67 years of age the well being gained from it is an added bonus
What can I say about the spa, I could say I’m lost for words but nobody could accuse me of that!
Visiting the spa is a tremendous pleasure for me as I’m retired I can go often which is usually six times a week if I can.
The luxury facilities at prices that I can afford allow me to select my own special experience.
Whether it’s a workout in the gym (which I’ve dropped two dress sizes) where I can do my own thing or receive expert advice from the instructors’.
Importantly this has allowed me to improve my fitness following blood clots in my lungs, I was unable to swim more than two lengths in the pool. Now I am able to swim as many as I want. This also enables me to keep up (well nearly) with my young grandchildren.
A few weeks ago I really spoilt myself by having a relaxing swim followed by a massage, how spoilt did I feel!
The spa has certainly enriched my life.
Since becoming members of the Spa when it opened, we have always been made to feel very welcome. After our initial assessments we were given tailor made programmes which have been updated on request. We have been impressed by the professionalism and expertise of the friendly, helpful instructors who have all encouraged us to persevere and improve our fitness levels. The instructor’s passion for their work and their dedication to the healthy lifestyle shine through, enabling them to motivate the most reluctant gym goers (Vicky!) to work towards their goals.
After an energetic session in the gym or one of the varied and enjoyable classes, it is a treat to make use of the pool, sauna and Jacuzzi, especially if it is a typical cold and windy day outside.
The masseurs are, without exception, excellent and a spa treatment is my ultimate luxury. On top of everything, all these wonderful facilities are within minutes of home. Fantastic, how lucky are we?
We have been members for almost 12 months now and go 4 or 5 times per week.
All the staff is very helpful and friendly and the spa has everything you need, both to keep fit and to relax.
Loved my ocean wrap, I will come again, Thank you.
